Crossroads - soundtrack album by Ry Cooder

In addition to the many fine albums issued in his name (not to mention his extensive session work), Ry Cooder wrote the soundtracks to several movies which were released as albums.
Crossroads is based on the legend surrounding blues musician, Robert Johnson.
Johnson, whose recording career spanned less than a year, nevertheless had enormous influence on the development of the blues.
According to the legend, Johnson, at the time a plantation worker, met the devil at a crossroads and entered into a Faustian plot to become a great blues player.
The title/opening track is a Johnson composition.

Blue City - Motion Picture Soundtrack
1986 U.S. pressing

This is one of those that you could include in that “Great Soundtracks To Awful Movies” discussions.

Blue City was SO bad, that first-time director Michelle Manning would never be allowed to direct a major studio motion picture ever again.

It’s a HORRENDOUSLY bad movie.

Luckily, it’s not ALL bad, because it gave us a really cool soundtrack compliments of the great Ry Cooder. It’s far and away the best part of the movie, and if it was a backdrop to a DIFFERENT movie, people would know it more.

“There wasn't that kind of vibe, and the #guitar is, after all, do-it-yourself. You can make of it what you want to, and that's the great thing about it. It can be anything and everything to all kinds of people.” www.guitarplayer.com/guitarists/h... #RyCooder #Guitarists #music #MusicSky #GuitarSky

“He goes, ‘I play a little. I'...
“He goes, ‘I play a little. I'm a hillbilly.’ Whips out his flatpick, man, and wailed on it.” How a devastating childhood accident and chance encounters with legends helped Ry Cooder become one of guitar’s most influential stylists

The guitarist would help define the Rolling Stones’ late-‘60s shift to country rock and bring Cuban music to a global audience
