"Hollywood has had a long history of excluding Indigenous peoples from mainstream media — often turning real stories and individuals into senseless caricatures that are more widely understood by the general public.

"Thankfully, several young #Indigenous writers, directors, actors, musicians, and performance artists have been actively fighting back in recent years to reclaim narratives, be accurately visible, and have ownership of their own stories.

"Though we’re still far from an ideal standard, reflecting on this painful history and looking forward to a more equitable future are great activities to honor Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Below, a list of films, TV shows, and documentaries that center and/or feature LGBTQ+ Indigenous identities."

@Napaaqtuk Just finished #RutherfordFalls. Dang, so that's how they left it hanging for the cancelled 3rd season?? We might need fan fiction to tie up those huge loose ends they left hanging.

@Napaaqtuk Just started #RutherfordFalls, while waiting for next season of ResDogs. Fun to see so many familiar actors. But sad to learn RF wasn't renewed. Oh well, will finish it anyway because it's damn good.

I've seen 3 photos of lines of Natives auditioning for #ReservationDogs that go for a mile or so. With the cancelation of #RutherfordFalls we only have 1 show highlighting Natives. I love RD, but wish we had more shows to highlight the variety of issues Natives face. Natives: if you could make a new Native focused show, what would be your theme?

Not sure who in Hollywood decided we needed more #Indigenous representation but good on them. Not only are we getting great content but I'm also having my eyes opened to how small the talent pool of Native actors has been kept by racist casting practices. More great shows and movies featuring Indigenous people should widen opportunity for that community. Shout out to #ReservationDogs #RutherfordFalls #TheEnglish #Prey #DarkWinds
