🛱 The price of #Russian_Urals oil has fallen below $40 per barrel for the first time in five years

In December 2025, the average price of #Urals oil dropped to $39.18 per barrel. Compared to November, the key export grade fell by 13%, and compared to the beginning of the year - by 41%, reports #The_Moscow_Times.

The sharp drop is associated with #US sanctions against #Rosneft and #Lukoil.

Also idling off the #Indian coast are the #Destan (under sanctions) and the #Horae (not subject to restrictions). They are also carrying #Russian_Urals crude.

The reasons for the delay remain unclear, and the destinations of the tankers may change.

Tankers carrying #Russian oil are stuck off the coast of #India - four vessels have been unable to unload, according to #Bloomberg.

Near the city of #Jamnagar, the tankers #Achilles and #Elyte are anchored - each carrying 700,000 barrels of #Russian_Urals crude. They were scheduled to offload in early August. Both ships are under #EU and #UK sanctions.

❗ A decrease in the prices of benchmark grades automatically entails a fall in the cost of other grades of oil, including #Russian_Urals and #ESPO.

For the first time in 21 months, the price of #Russian_Urals oil falls to $50 per barrel. The #Kremlin is nervous — #Bloomberg

🛱 The price of #Russian_Urals crude oil fell to $52.76 per barrel, #Bloomberg reports. The last time it fell below $50 was in June 2023.

Crude oil prices are crucial for #Russia's federal budget, which relies on oil and gas for almost 30% of its revenue.

🛱 Let us recall that the #Russian budget is based on $70 per barrel.

One of the key importers of #Russian oil, the #Turkish oil holding #Tupras, has announced a temporary suspension of purchases of #Russian_Urals crude.

They received the final cargoes this month, and now, due to #US sanctions, they will no longer buy #Russian oil. Last year, they imported 225 000 barrels per day from #Russia.

It's unclear whether #Turkey plans to cease #Russian oil imports altogether, but this is still a significant blow to #Putin's war economy.
