This week's #NewBooks at the library:
- I bought a deeply discounted copy of Natalie Lawrence's Enchanted Creatures: Our Monsters and Their Meanings from Weidenfeld & Nicolson.
- I found a second-hand copy of #FritzLeiber's classic The Swords of Lankhmar, published by the defunct Rupert Hart-Davis. This is a deep cut, as some argue that, somewhere in here, lies the inspiration for Warhammer's race of giant rat-men, the Skaven.
- We had a sale at work selling overstock, so I snagged a copy of the delightful The Age of Reptiles: The Art and Science of #RudolphZallinger's Great Dinosaur Mural at Yale, published by the Yale Peabody Museum, which folds out into a loooooong concertina. I'd love to see the original one day, but for now I can pore over this classic piece of palaeoart in this format.
