you'll immediately recognize the bird, this black-and-white bird with its curved beak and long, light-blue legs.

For several years now, they've been breeding in the wetlands here. And their numbers are increasing.

Little Owl...

There are several locations in my area where you can see the Little Owl. In some of those locations, they live under the roof tiles.

Cormorants hunt in large flocks, fishing for shallow water, which makes catching fish easier for the cormorant.

Great Egrets, Little Egrets, and Grey Herons gratefully take advantage of this to catch a fish.

I've never seen so many Great Egrets in my backyard. I counted over 33. Their numbers are increasing.

This morning I went to see the rare Western Swamphen in my Backyard again.

In the Netherlands, this is a very rare bird. The nearest breeding grounds are Spain and France.

It's been here for 44 days now.
What a beautiful bird with those purple-blue feathers and its red beak, head shield, and legs.

It really stands out among the black coots.

Roerdompen in het #Rottermerengebied.
In het vroege voorjaar kan je ze al horen hoempen en er zitten er best wel wat.
Ooit hoorde ik er 7 hoempen op een avond.
Dan maak je ook de meeste kans dat je ze zie

In de #plasdrasgebieden, langs het #populierenbosje eigenlijk overal waar riet is kan je de #Roerdomp verwachten.

Het is een schuwe vogel die verborgen leeft in het riet.
