Reddit’s a total shithole now. Freedom of speech? Forget it - threads get strangled the second someone says something real. Proper debate dies on arrival. And if these gutless censors are the voice of the US Dem Party, then the party is a fiction. It's merely a cabal of craven, criticism-phobic authoritarians, hiding their fear behind a facade of progress. Where's the liberalism? Ah, but it's spam. The perfect, cowardly alibi.

Murray Rothbard

Murray Newton Rothbard (1926–1995) was an Austrian school economist and influential leader of the modern libertarian movement. As T.H. Huxley was nicknamed "Darwin's bulldog," Rothbard might as well be called "von Mises' bulldog." In his young days at university (until age 40 or so) Murray had drop-dead moviestar good looks. Rock Hudson eat your heart out.

"So only little boys infected with socialist #propaganda can blame Mises for his words."

"You are economically ignorant and perhaps dishonest."

"...but stupid boys infected with statist #propaganda hate #Rothbard for his proposals to make people, especially children, less unhappy."

"If you wish to remain in a state of happy #ignorance about #economics, you can continue to read Graeber's book."

Seems to be a libertarian thing where you get to be arrogant but nobody else is supposed to be 🤔

"Inalienable Rights: Part I The Basic Argument" - what #Nozick and #Rothbard got wrong

https://www.ellerman.org/inalienable-rights-part-i-the-basic-argument/

“An inalienable right is a right that may not be ceded or transferred away even with the consent of the holders of the right. Any contract to alienate such a right would be an inherently invalid contract, and, vice-versa, a right such that any contract to alienate it was inherently invalid would thus be an inalienable right.”

Inalienable Rights: Part I The Basic Argument

What is the inalienable rights theory that descends from the Reformation through the Enlightenment and that answers the classical apologies for slavery and autocracy based on implicit or explicit voluntary contracts?

@mjmurphyva Uhm.. w..what? Why?

First of all, calling #libertarian an autocrat is kinda "strange", at the least. For me, feels like projection, honestly...

Secondly, my favorite thing is that he quotes #Mises, #Rothbard, #Hazlitt, #Hyek and others, and that his view of reducing #government (where >50% of #Argentina workforce is in public sector - unsustainable) is just for the best.

He's short-term #minarchist, long-term #AnCap.

Time will tell if any good will come of him. Power corrupts...

"[...] Rothbard explains what the winning strategy is:

"[...] we need a dynamic, charismatic leader who has the ability to short-circuit the media elites, and to reach and rouse the masses directly. We need a leadership that can reach the masses and cut through the crippling and distorting hermeneutical fog spread by the media elites."

"That’s what Milei did."

Since I recognized almost twenty years ago that no person or institution has the right to initiate aggression, now is the first time I can tell a normie what my political stance is without them having no clue what I am talking about.
