Actor Rory Calhoun (1922-1999)

As a young man he appeared to be headed for a life of crime - stealing a revolver at 13. He left home when he was 17, eventually spending three years in federal prison for car theft across state lines + robbery of jewelry stores. Paroled at 21, Calhoun turned his life around after a chance meeting with actor Alan Ladd, which led to him being signed as an actor with David O Selznick. He was known for his roles in Westerns both on film + television.
