Olivia Dean Hosts Intimate After Hours Event Upstairs At Ronnie’s in Soho | My Soho Times

Soho welcomed another memorable night of music, beauty and culture last night, Wednesday 10th June, as Grammy Award winner Olivia Dean and Hourglass Cosmetics hosted an exclusive After Hours event Upstairs at Ronnie’s on Frith Street.

The intimate gathering celebrated the launch of Phantom Blur Balm, Hourglass Cosmetics’ newest lip innovation, bringing together VIP guests, media, and industry creatives from across the UK, Europe and the United States.

Among those in attendance were Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Aimee Lou Wood, Tina Kunakey, Isabella Wei, Zezi Ifore, Billie Marten and Pip Millett, alongside figures from the worlds of fashion, beauty, music and entertainment.

Set within one of Soho’s most iconic venues, the evening marked the latest chapter in Olivia Dean’s ongoing partnership with Hourglass Cosmetics and was inspired by the brand’s After Hours campaign, which celebrates the intersection of beauty, music and creative expression.

At the heart of the event was a curated live music programme personally selected by Olivia Dean, featuring performances from rising artists Nectar Woode and Hope Winter. Guests gathered for an evening of live music, conversation and connection in the intimate surroundings of Upstairs at Ronnie’s.

Alongside the performances, attendees were invited to discover Hourglass’ latest launch, Phantom Blur Balm. The new product is designed to combine the comfort and hydration of a lip balm with a soft-focus blurred finish and modern colour payoff, becoming the newest addition to the brand’s popular Phantom collection.

Guests also experienced the Hourglass Lip Bar, where they could explore Olivia Dean’s signature “Lip Edit”, featuring Phantom Blur Balm in Enigma, Phantom Volumizing Glossy Balm in Desire and Shape & Sculpt Lip Liner in Tempt.

Her complexion was created using Veil Hydrating Skin Tint in shade 11, Vanish Airbrush Concealer in Dune and Unreal Liquid Highlighter in Divine, finished with Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara in Ultra Black.

From legendary jazz performances to contemporary cultural gatherings, Ronnie’s continues to play host to some of London’s most exciting creative moments — and this latest event was no exception.

Bill Evans, Evans in England, 2019 on Resonance

Another late sixties (December 1969) set from Evans, Eddie Gomez, and Marty Morell, recorded at Ronnie Scott's. (Live at Ronnie Scott's, released in 2020, came from recordings made in July of 1968). Great production and packaging. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvX6ZG0jAYA My copy—via private sale—is the Record Store Day 2019 2xLP deluxe edition, numbered and limited.

…so… if you survived that incredulous set with #SteveHackett live at Royal Albert Hall there is a playlist of #JeffBeck live at #RonnieScotts featuring #TalWilkenfeld , #VinnieColaiuta and #JasonRebello. Tal (smiley !) is all over this and they are a total unit by now. It doesn’t get much better. Probably not what you would call a cool down tho

Bill Evans, Live at Ronnie Scott’s, 2020 on Resonance

Recorded back in July of 1968, this is Evans with Eddie Gomez and Jack DeJohnette at London’s landmark Ronnie Scott’s club. Resonance Records itself is part of the non-profit Rising Jazz Stars Foundation.

The trio in this form had a month long residency in 1968 at the club. The recording here was made by DeJohnette himself, so the sound quality varies a bit from the normal professional recordings of the era, but it is worth it for the playing here. Essentially like a quality “audience” bootleg pressed professionally to vinyl.

My copy – via a private sale – is the 2xLP Record Store Day 2020 edition, in mono, cut by Bernie Grundman and pressed at RTI. It includes an 11 page booklet with tributes and interviews (including DeJohnette and Gomez, as well as Chevy Chase).
