The dataset contains photographs of the linguistic landscape of Mallorca and was collected during a field trip in May 2023. The photographs were taken in Palma de Mallorca, Port de Pollença, Valledemosa and Alcúdia. A special focus is placed on the interplay of Romanian and Catalan with Spanish in the linguistic landscape. However, semiotic elements, the presence of the languages of tourism and transgressive signage were also part of the explorative fieldwork and are therefore included in this dataset too.
The call is opened especially to early career scholars from South-Eastern Europe, historians, anthropologists, linguists, and scholars of cognate disciplines. Fellows are expected to conduct research that resonates with the project’s intellectual profile, particularly developing comparative and trans-regional research perspectives. The deadline for application is 16 September 2023.
