#FloridaFriday: A wide shot of one of the #marble #lion #statues donated by Dr. Andrew #Anderson, who had commissioned #RomanelliStudios of #Florence, #Italy copies of the #MediciLions, statues in the #RoyalPalace in #Madrid.
They were meant to finish decorating a bridge between St. Augustine, #Florida, and #Anastasia Island, which was itself meant to be both #artistic and utilitarian, resulting in the Bridge of Lions, gaining its name from Anderson’s gift.
The bridge needed #restoration work in 2006, so the lions were removed for their protection, and returned in 2011.

To grace the entrance of the bridge, prominent local citizen Dr. Andrew #Anderson commissioned the #RomanelliStudios of #Florence, #Italy to recreate the famous #MediciLion #statues in the #RoyalPalace in #Madrid, #Spain. These incredible #artworks eventually gave the bridge its name.
