I finished the Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 campaign. Tycoon rank on all maps.

Most levels were more of the same except for La La Land which had a VIP requirement for scenery. After 10 or so attempts at pleasing them it seems this is a big sticking point for many players. The solution: spam an obscene amount of scenery items, way more than you think. Whatever works!

Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 continues. I've got six maps to go. There have been some more challenges added like no altering the terrain and even one map where you can't charge for the rides. The scenario description did not specify this.

Some objectives want you to build multiple coasters with certain speed or excitement thresholds. The easiest way to beat this was to just build the same coaster twice.

I also added some peeps for my wife and I. For some reason an extra peep was added to the group (even after I kept deleting it). I forgot they would take photos in the park and on rides. I don't know where it is saving them.

I've still playing Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. I'm on the map 7/18. Most objectives continue to be quick except for any that require paying back a loan or making enough money to afford a rollercoaster. I'm still getting my bearings on what to charge for each type of ride to maximize cash.

I think the objective system (compared to RCT1) is nice. I haven't seen any time sensitive failure points. In fact, the only way to really lose would be to trap yourself in debt. Time objectives are usually to hold a guest count or rating for a few months and if you do it quickly you finish quickly. VIPs will always visit again if you don't meet their wants. The variety is refreshing.

I'd say the big downside is the feeling of running the park. Since you can blitz the completion you don't really need to think long term. I don't really think I'm making the park my own and you can just build around problems instead of solving them.

I decided to revisit Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 since I snagged a copy when Epic gave it out for free. I played this a bunch growing up, but I don't think I ever beat it.

It's pretty much what I remember. Run the park, try to make money and meet the objectives. I remember struggling with the objectives, but I managed to beat a couple levels quickly since you didn't need to run the whole park depending on the objective.

Some of the rides are huge. One was 12x12 and the parks feel to small to fit this stuff in.

I liked making fireworks displays and you could even import your own music. You can make a family of peeps to visit your park, although there's limited options on customizing them. I made a couple for my wife and I, but they haven't shown up yet.

Not sure I'll play all the way through. There's 18 scenarios and you need all max ranks to unlock the last one.
