Oh, for sure. I was just talking about what was default or selectable in the default install between Ubuntu 2010.04-(ish) and the most recent Ubuntu Mate at the time.

I suppose if someone really wanted to, they could just yoink the theme files off the classic Ubuntu iso. ;)

Honestly, with a decent launcher like #rofi, Mate could be quite a nice little environment.

How to Use and Install Rofi on Linux: A Comprehensive Tutorial

If you’re a Linux user looking to supercharge your workflow with a fast, customizable, and versatile launcher, look no further than **Rofi**. Rofi (short for "Runner Of Everything") is a lightweight, extensible tool that started as a window switcher but has evolved into a multi-purpose utility. It can launch applications, switch between windows, manage SSH sessions, browse bookmarks, and even act as a menu for scripts—all from a minimal, keyboard-driven interface. What makes Rofi stand out? Its speed (it’s built in C for minimal overhead), extensive customization options (themes, layouts, and behavior), and compatibility with virtually any desktop environment (DE) or window manager (WM), including GNOME, KDE, i3, Sway, and bspwm. Whether you’re a beginner or a power user, Rofi can streamline how you interact with your Linux system. In this tutorial, we’ll cover everything from installing Rofi on major Linux distributions to customizing its appearance, integrating it with your workflow, and troubleshooting common issues. Let’s dive in!

If not, I highly recommend it. I browse the feed on YT and then press `x` and all the links are tagged, then I type the 2 letter tag, and poof mpv opens and the video starts playing, no mid-roll ads.

I have a helper script to grab cookies from qutebrowser to feed to yt-dlp, for age restricted videos, and that /probably/ lets YT know what I'm watching to help feed its algorithm for finding me new channels to peruse.

I also have a couple of scripts for playing a video from the clipboard, so when I'm browsing Mastodon in #LibreWolf I can just copy the link and kick off the script with #rofi and poof, the video begins playing in an mpv window.

A fairly slow morning. Worked on my #Laravel project.. and then I got the OG #Starcraft running on #Fedora 43 in #Sway with #Rofi and all that good stuff.

I think I'll go out on the balcony and read some after lunch.

😌 aaah...

Alhamdulillah, I started HyprLTM-Net as a personal project for my Hyprland setup, which by the way I am still quietly improving, and now it has become a real open source project used by hundreds of users.

And even better, I keep taking care of it like a little baby (I am a father). This time, I’m more than happy to announce the availability of HyprLTM-Net v0.3.0, which comes with numerous new features, fixes, and improvements.

I like #rofi so I created a neat little station launcher for #somafm
Get it here: https://github.com/toxision/somafmplayer
It let's you either select or randomly pick a station, playing it in the background using #mpv

If you want, let me know what you think. Thanks! 🫶

A Rofi workspace switcher for Sway

I started out on a journey to try to get sway to create a new workspace for me, with a “probably” unique name. How could I do that?

I have created a first release of some extensions that I created for #Hyprland. These make use of Hyprland IPC and #Rofi and help when working with Workspaces and Client Windows. You can give them a try. They are located on #Codeberg

Using the right kind of “boost” you can turn Rofi into an hypercharged bar.
100% legal, zero rehab required, and dangerously addictive in the nerdiest way possible :)

Right since I'm back on #FreeBSD and #MangoWC ( #Wayland ) I think I'm going to swap back from #Rofi to #Fuzzel .
