There is still no scientific consensus on the exact age. Estimates range from around 12,000 years all the way down to just a few hundred years. The main reason for the debate is the remarkably good preservation of the red ochre paintings — they look almost too fresh and vibrant for something that old.

A few years ago, I came across photos of the ancient rock art in Serranía de la Lindosa and immediately added it to my must-visit list. Seeing it in person is even more breathtaking. The site is often called the “Sistine Chapel of the Amazon”.
This is Nuevo Tolima — one of the three main rock art sites in the area that are currently open to visitors.

Путь несложный, но я в самом начале пошел по неправильной тропинке и с полчаса блуждал там. А еще дождик моросил. Хорошо, что все-таки не стал идти до конца и лезть в бурелом. На обратном пути заметил правильную тропу(правая у указателя).
