A naturals robusta from Naivo this time. Didn't really have a good time with their bewild robusta last year (https://pixelfed.social/p/enyantiomer/790143518047647332)

Though the brew smells floral and mildly spicy, the taste is mostly mildly bitter with hints of cardamom and nutmeg. There's also a burnt sort of sweetness which isn't pleasant. Not my cup of tea yet again this year.

starting off the new year with sweet illusions robusta by naivo: https://naivo.in/product/sweet-illusions-bewild-permaculture-180h-anoxic-naturals-fine-robusta/?mc_cid=06a8de4233

about 2:15 brew time
93°C water

brew smells spicy and a bit floral.

taste is mildly bitter upfront. tastes a bit like cardamom, nutmeg. bitterness lingers unpleasantly but reduces with sips. theres a sickly burnt sweetness in background.

like last years bewild robusta, this is not my cup of tea

New robusta from caffinary called "Garnet Vin Doux": https://caffinary.com/products/vin-doux?variant=44879530361032

their "Couverture Canephora" (https://caffinary.com/products/couverture-canephora?variant=43613026418888) was my fav robusta from 2025 so interested in this one too.

Another one from El Bueno Roasters called "Cacao me crazy!". This time it's a robusta which is a mosto processed naturals.

This is one of the best tasting robusta coffees I have had. Has a dark chocolate primary note with a bit of fruity acidity. Extremely good cup.

a couple of new robusta launches by naivo:

1. "The Nut Job – Mooleh Manay 120H Carbonic Naturals" (https://naivo.in/product/the-nut-job-mooleh-manay-120h-carbonic-naturals/)

2. "Sweet Illusions – BEWILD Permaculture 180H Anoxic Naturals" (https://naivo.in/product/sweet-illusions-bewild-permaculture-180h-anoxic-naturals-fine-robusta/?mc_cid=06a8de4233)

the sweet illusions seems up my alley but the last bewild from naivo was definitely not my favourite (https://mastodon.social/@enyantiomer/113769399380720568)

"cacao me crazy!" (mosto process naturals) by el bueno: https://elbuenocoffee.com/product/cacao-me-crazy/

smells exactly like dark chocolate with a hint of fruit.

tastes almost exactly like couverture canephora from caffinary. dark chocolate taste with mellow fruity acidity. the taste doesnt really change much with sips except maybe the fruity note gets a bit more prominent.

Cacao Me Crazy – Ratnagiri Estate Coffee with Dark Cacao Notes

Cacao Me Crazy from Ratnagiri Estate, Baba Budangiri. Hemavathi varietal, natural processed with rich flavors of dark cacao, raisin, and molasses sweetness.

this is only a preliminary note since its mixed with 7 grams of my previous coffee, but this robusta by el bueno ("cacao me crazy"): https://elbuenocoffee.com/product/cacao-me-crazy/ might be a slightly cheaper alternative to the best robusta i had tasted before (https://caffinary.com/products/couverture-canephora)

surprise #RobustaQuest entrant in da house haha

@enyantiomer did you try this brand/have you seen it before? it's pre-ground so may not be relevant to your interests, but still

been 8 months since i started #RobustaQuest and the only coffee i can recommend without caveats was the most expensive one from caffinary: https://caffinary.com/products/couverture-canephora (no longer available)

likely my final coffee in my robusta quest. this one is salawara estate from subko roasters. it tastes buttery and nutty with no acidity. not too bitter, and has a non specific sweetness to it as well.
