Robber Robber
Burlington's Robber Robber open their new album with "The Sound It Made", a post-punk scorcher pieced together from journal entries written while crashing on friends' couches. Nina Cates stays cool while the band threatens to implode. Out April 3.

Using parts from post-punk, shoegaze, and garage revival, Robber Robber constructs a sound that's as rough and unsettling as it is adventurous and captivating.

Robber Robber | the PROPAGANDA site

Robber Robbber is a band out of Burlington, Vermont that is led by drummer Zack James and guitarist Nina Cates, whose vocals give off reassuring vibes that all will be well even when their rough, unpolished, and somewhat unsettling sound might suggests otherwise. Their stylistic roots are in the jumpy, dark tones of post-punk and shoegaze, as well as the garage rock revival of the '00s. They work in a consistently jagged esthetic with an adventurous approach that is comparable to Wombo and Palm, who similarly downplay melodies in favor of a bold flow. In a way, Robber Robber expands on and solidifies what Cates and James started doing earlier in Guy Ferrari, a duo that effectively was the band's progenitor.
