Boosting for the fediverse:

The City of Thibodaux experienced a rapid loss of water pressure yesterday, September 28, 2023, with the water line repair on Audubon Ave. As a precaution, everyone receiving City water is now under a BOIL ADVISORY, effective immediately. This BOIL ADVISORY is to remain in effect for at least 48 hours, as water samples are being collected to be sent to the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals for further testing. City officials said additional updates will be posted as they become available.

Our guests this week are Lens reporters Joshua Rosenberg and Marta Jewson.

Developers of a #StJames grain elevator have continued their refusal to cooperate with the Army Corps of Engineers and the local community in completing a proper #environmental and #historical impact study of their proposed project.

They have also lied about having local support from #RiseStJames, a local environmental activist group.

Federal Agency Rejects Developer’s Report That Massive Grain Elevator Won’t Harm Black Heritage Sites

For the second time, the Army Corps of Engineers has reprimanded a Louisiana developer for its failure to offer an adequate assessment of the impact that its $400 million project would have on neighboring Black communities and historic sites.

I’m sad to say that there’s a lot that feels quite typical in this article from #LaIlluminator about the way industry and #LocalGovernment behaves in the #RiverParishes of #Louisiana. For some, these projects bring jobs, but for others they bring health risks and further the lack of investment in their communities.
