#HarryHarrison wrote a very funny book called Star Smashers of the Galaxy Rangers in 1973. Some of the aliens in the book turned their home solar system into a gigantic #RingWorld and drove around in "70 yard long cars"

I think #car manufacturers read that joke and thought it was something to aim at. Especially #SUV and #pickup manufacturers. What the ever loving fuck was wrong with a 1990s Ford Escort or equivalent? Why do we all have to drive 3 ton monstrosities?

We shouldn't even need to own personal cars by now. Instead we should all be taking free, electric #PublicTransport, #cycling or #walking. Everyone but the most blinkered and confused right winger can see this is the right thing to do.

It seems that we get the future #SciFi writers come up with. The problem is sci-fi writers love a good #dystopia.

I thought that this was a nice positive future representation. It's on a totally constructed world, a Ringworld, which is such an awesome idea, lots of ring world science fiction now, it seems only natural to take a space station to the next level.

It could be that within this world is an outwardly polished nightmare, and I probably wouldn't read it otherwise. But it looks like a nice place to spend time🤣

last character is Speaker-to-Animals, a Kzin that is a cat-like warrior species. He is just muscle and thinks that he can command and take over with his strength.
Also, to mention that both Nessus' people , the Puppeteers, and the Kzin have non-sentient females that are only meat for reproduction.
I cannot stress the misogyny and the cardboard one-dimensional characters in this.
And I cannot get past that rape joke at all.
Some so-called classics are best buried and forgotten. I cannot understand how the rape joke got past editing even in the 1970s.
I am not reading another Larry Niven book ever again.
