G-Nitro’s Daily Music Wrap-Up – 4/18/26
I got stuck with a terrible album by Richard Thompson & Linda Thompson, and checked out a 2025 release from Cheyada.
Favorite Videos include Woody on Beyond The Studio, Moon Sujin on LCDC Live, and more!

Over on Bsky (I know, I know), Elizabeth Nelson reminded me that it's Richard Thompson's birthday (b. 4/3/1949), so Happy Birthday, Richard!

Happy 77th birthday to Richard Thompson, a dark eminence and songwriting hero whose mainline into the heights and depths of the human struggle has nourished us for more than five decades. Here's a career retrospective I wrote about him over at Stereogum some years back. https://stereogum.com/1826762/richard-thompson-albums-from-worst-to-best/lists

With a 33 RPM speed and a cardboard sleeve case type, this first US edition LP is a must-have for collectors. The catalog number is CGLP 4403 and it was released in 1979 with a record grading of Very Good Plus (VG+) and a sleeve grading of Very Good (VG).
"In Concert, November 1975" by #RichardThompson and #LindaThompson.
A killer live album from the era of their best albums. Sound quality is great, and I love the rough folk rock sound. There's some tasty country rock covers as well like #HankWilliams song "Why Don't You Love Me".
Musical Interlude: Heard this twice recently, once shuffling on my MP3 player, again on the radio, so it seems like fate. Here's a great cover of a Richard Thompson song.
"When the Spell is Broken," performed by Bonnie Raitt and the Blind Boys of Alabama.
