When still working in an office as opposed to at home, we still had Xmas work dos (which I do not miss at all). We were asked for contributions to an Xmas playlist. Mine were all instrumental jazz versions of the well-known tunes like those on this LP. They were not played!

Macanudo is an album by jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal of performances by Jamal with an orchestra conducted by Richard Evans. It was recorded in 1962 and released on the Argo label
Simon Sweetman, writing for Off the Tracks, called the album "wonderful" and praised "the way [Jamal's] lines just coast so easily, effortlessly across the rhythm of each piece". He concluded: "A class act, of course. And something a little different within his vast, impeccable canon of music."

Richard Evans's HITLER'S PEOPLE, which came out last year, is not a supererogatory coda to his largely excellent Third Reich trilogy. Rather, it is a remarkably useful reframing of the people in the evil bastard's inner circle, showing us how personality details led them to react in differing ways. Helpful given Trump's present clown car Cabinet. It is almost the top-level counterpart to Milton Mayer's THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE FREE (which I strongly recommend).
