Eric Dolphy at the Five Spot is a pair of live albums by the jazz musician and composer Eric Dolphy. They were released in December 1961 (Volume 1) and November 1963 (Volume 2) by Prestige Records. They were recorded on the night of 16 July 1961 at the end of Dolphy's two-week residency, alongside trumpeter Booker Little, at the Five Spot jazz club in New York. It was the only night to be recorded. The engineer was Rudy Van Gelder.

Dolphy's composition "The Prophet" is a tribute to the artist Richard "Prophet" Jennings, who had designed the covers of Dolphy's earlier albums, Outward Bound and Out There.

In an AllMusic review of volume 1, Michael G. Nastos stated that Dolphy's group had "developed into a role model for all progressive jazz combos to come" - Wikipedia

Heavy Sounds is an album by American jazz drummer Elvin Jones and bassist Richard Davis, recorded in 1967 and released on the Impulse! label.

Heavy Sounds was originally intended to be a trio date, with Jones, Davis, and guitarist Larry Coryell. However, Coryell did not appear, and producer Bob Thiele suggested that Jones and Davis play something together in his absence. The result was a 11½ minute duet version of "Summertime". Davis recalled: "No discussion, no editing, no plan, I just started playing the melody, and there he was... and I just thought there was some very brotherly thing about that particular piece." - Wikipedia

The AllMusic review stated "These lengthy performances (all but one of the seven songs are over 11 minutes) contain some loose and rambling moments but also plenty of creative playing by this unusual group of all-stars" - Wikipedia

First Prize! is an album by saxophonist/clarinetist Eddie Daniels recorded in 1966 and released on the Prestige label the following year.

Allmusic awarded the album 4½ stars with Scott Yanow stating "When one hears this early Eddie Daniels set, it is surprising to realize that he would remain in relative obscurity for almost another 20 years. As shown on the three of the eight selections on which he plays clarinet, Daniels even at this early stage ranked near the top, while his tenor playing on the remaining numbers was already personal and virtuosic" - Wikipedia
