A view of Rhododendron arboreum from our second storey window. R. arboreum is the national flower of Nepal and is native to the area in and around the Himalaya.

The tallest rhododendron in the world is a specimen of R. arboreum which stretches up 20m (65') on Mount Japfü in India.

One of my favorite rhododendrons in my garden is blooming early this year. It's been a mild winter. This is Rhododendron sinogrande (no common name) which is native to Southwest China. In the wild it can grow more than 30 feet high and those leaves can reach three feet in length. It won't get that large in our climate. I particularly like the partially emerged buds when the scales are just coming off.

I like the #eastneukoffife, I like #farmshops, I like #fractals and today when I walked into the Ardross Farm Shop outside of #stmonans in the East Neuk I was greeted by this amazing #romanesco.

This was after seeing a near perfect #rhododendron on Friday at the #rgbe.
