Rhoda 1x23 "A Nice Warm Rut" shout by RikerDonegal
Another episode with a lot of tension between Rhoda and Joe. I appreciate what the show is going for, but these fights aren’t comedic. The laughs here come almost exclusively from Brenda (Julie Kavner) and Justin (Scoey Mitchell). _Jan-Feb 1975: CBS aired Rhoda in the second hour of Monday prime time after Maude and before Medical Center. Against it were The ABC Monday Night Movie on ABC and NBC Monday Night at the Movies on NBC._ 5/10

Rhoda’s office. Very much a middle-of-the-road episode. It’s more about adjusting the status quo than telling a story or delivering jokes. In short, this is the one where Rhoda moves her business out of her home to an office where she can work in peace. Myrna (Barbara Sharma) quits her teaching job to come work for Rhoda. That’s it, that’s the episode. There’s also some tension with Joe, too. Regarding Rhoda being busy all the time. _Jan-Feb 1975: CBS aired Rhoda in the second hour of Monday prime time after Maude and before Medical Center. Against it were The ABC Monday Night Movie on ABC and NBC Monday Night at the Movies on NBC._ 6/10

Rhoda 1x21 "Chest Pains" shout by RikerDonegal
**John Ritter, Norman Fell.** Second episode in a row about one of the characters seeing a doctor. This time, it’s Ida. The best part of the story is when she uses fear of death as a prompt to become closer to her girls, pressing them to tell her their secrets. There are a couple of great guest stars, but the episode is carried by Nancy Walker, Julie Kavner, and Valerie Harper, and they are wonderful together. Rhoda is a more interesting character with her family than she is with her husband. _Jan-Feb 1975: CBS aired Rhoda in the second hour of Monday prime time after Maude and before Medical Center. **Scoey Mitchell.** Realistic, but not very funny. Rhoda is annoyed that Joe is secretive in the marriage. Then she learns he is seeing a doctor, so she starts investigating. It all ends sweetly but there sure is a lot of underlying tension in this marriage. In many ways, this a typical sitcom plot, but they give it a realistic treatment here. _Jan-Feb 1975: CBS aired Rhoda in the second hour of Monday prime time after Maude and before Medical Center.
