#RhettMiller is probably best known as front man/founding member of #Old97s, and with them or solo, his music is often #acoustic-based, #country-flavored music that’s come to be known as #Americana. That’s not my usual territory but sometimes a good song just gets you, y’know?

It can be hard for me to listen to this song without getting pulled into the past and drifting off in a cloud of What Might Have Been. I clipped the quoted lyric at the couplet above as much to end it before the painful part, as to emphasize this week’s word, “open.” The verse continues:

"I was hollow then till you filled me in, now I'm empty again
I should have never let it start."

When Rhett then breaks into the chorus, I feel it, kids; I feel it.
