"Rhamphorhynchus muensteri" — 2013

Rhamphorhynchus muensteri was a medium-sized pterosaur from the Late Jurassic of Germany. It is known from dozens of excellent fossils, including one of the best Mesozoic fossils I know of, the famous darkwing specimen.

Harpactognathus gentryii (har-pakt-og-nathe-us jen-tree-ee-eye) was a scaphognathine #pterosaur, related to #Scaphognathus, and more distantly, #Rhamphorhynchus! It lived in what's now Wyoming during the late #Jurassic.
Its generic name translates to "snatching jaw", in reference to how #toothy and gnarly those #jaws would have been.

Here is Caelestiventus hanseni! One of the few #pterosaurs discovered from the #Triassic!

This definitely has one of the best names of any #pterosaur! Its generic name translates to “heavenly wind”, which is definitely up there with #Sordes and #Cryodrakon!

A new and large ctenochasmatid pterosaur from the Solnhofen region

Ok, so new pterosaurs come out all the time and yes, the Solnhofen region of Southern Germany is home to many, many pterosaurs in general and many ctenochasmatids specifically. This probably isn’t …
