Man, I love this thing.

Cold Steel machete; definitely not new out of the box anymore, as you can see. Intentionally let it get so dull I couldn't stand it, and then put my own edge on it. I like it even more now that the stock hollow grind is gone, which is always a good sign; that means that it was not performing well purely on the basis of it still being razor sharp from the factory, and that it's actually well balanced, and whatnot.

As someone who has never so much as entertained another idea since the same day as finding NixOS—or having been found by it, or however you would rather look at this—I'm quite afraid that anyone who has ever made any comment to the effect that "NixOS is not a real Linux distribution" has been absolutely correct about that.

If to use any proprietary operating system is to look at one's own monitor plugged into their own graphics card, and to stare down the wrong end of the barrel in so doing, then to use any Linux distribution in a conventional sense is to dodge bullets; then to use NixOS is to simultaneously stop every bullet already in flight and watch them all drop harmlessly to the floor.

I'm not trying to tell you that you can dodge bullets; I'm trying to tell you that when you're ready, you won't have to, and that it's not a distro because we're not gonna need one where we're going.
