Whew - last year's taxes sorted FINALLY with the reassessment doc received.

I made a tiny error with one misplaced receipt and then made the very large error of trying to use the "refile" feature which was just an easy button click.

Never. Do. That. It took 10 months to get reassessed.

If you make a tiny mistake, just leave it and let them fix it, or wait a while (a month?), and use the correction feature on the CRA website.

Ugh. Lesson learned.

I posted my Canadian tax return a couple of days before the deadline, which was 2025-04-30. I have already received an acknowledgement: #RevenueCanada has processed my return and figured out that I overpaid them a bit. It will be deposited in my bank account in a few days.

I posted my US tax return a couple of days before the deadline, which was 2025-04-15. The #USIRS `where's my refund' online tool doesn't admit the return exists yet.

So much efficiency in the US government these days.

Big win for Palestine: JNF charity status revoked - Yves Engler

Score a significant victory against apartheid, genocide and Canada’s most significant contribution to Palestinian dispossession. The powerful Jewish National Fund of Canada has reportedly had its charitable status revoked. Under pressure from Independent Jewish Voices (IJV) and others the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) instigated an audit of the JNF in 2018. JNF Canada was eventually

Oh good. So when #RevenueCanada hauls me in for an audit because following AI's advice I made an egregious mistake in my income tax filing, will the AI help me defend my audit too?

This is fucking ridiculous.

Tax filing! Ugh.
I had to call the TurboTax people today to ask what some of the questions on the Cdn tax form meant. Like this strange negative question:
Do you have no income to report on lines 10500 through 15000? (Yes or no). (I do have, so is the answer yes, or no?) I put no, but it's an odd way to ask.
Other weird questions, too. Some are statements but with a Yes or No to check. I am wondering if this was created with #AI.
