I have spent most of today on a train and, even when it's crowded and noisy (as it was for a while), this remains my favourite way to travel. Snacks, views, time for leisure or work, space to stretch my legs, no absurd security theatre, and a smaller carbon footprint. Just... *chef's kiss*.

A fairly sympathetic opinion article about disruptive non-violent climate protests in The Conversation via RNZ.

"Law and policy already acknowledge the climate crisis will demand enormous effort and change. They cannot also become blunt tools for repressing social movements dedicated to holding those same powers to account."

Another day, another roadblock: how should NZ law deal with disruptive climate protests?

The most recent protest by the Restore Passenger Rail climate protest group is not just the latest in a local movement - it's part of a global trend.

Restore Passenger Rail has defaced a car dealership in Wellington, and good on them. Looks like Jeep, one of the worst offenders. Look at that obscene big black tank in the window behind the red paint.

went to a lil protest thingy. waved a sign, held a banner, was mildly seen in public. Seems like I'm capable of that much. Surprising boost to confidence, honestly wasn't sure I'd follow through.

Solidarity with imprisoned climate activists Rosemary, Jen, and Alex.

If you have a vote in the upcoming elections, please keep the climate and the future in mind when you vote.

There will be a solidarity action in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland, at Te Komititanga square at 2pm this Saturday, supporting imprisoned Restore Passenger Rail climate activists Rosemary Penwarden and Jen Olsen.

As I understand it there will be placards to be held and chants to be chanted, type of thing.

Restore Passenger Rail

#Wellington has the #RestorePassengerRail protesters disrupting transport in our capital

#Auckland has #kiwirail disrupting #transport in our biggest city

After years of poor quality #publicTransport - but more importantly, the poor communication around disruptions often adding hours to my commute each week - I finally bought a car

Arguably, sorting out public transport will do more towards reducing our #emissions than the #CleanCarDiscount

I dont know what the "right" way to #protest is, I sure don't have answers (God i wish I did) but #RestorePassengerRail don't seem to be achieving anything but pissing off Wellingtoninans?
#Wellington #NZ #NZpol

Do you know what would stop the disruption and generally help fix traffic, cost of living, and pollution problems?

A government commitment to #RestorePassengerRail (besides being politically palatable and a net vote gainer)

Climate protesters block traffic in central Wellington

Restore Passenger Rail protesters are again blocking traffic in central Wellington.
