today's couple goals are my 28-year-old Cockatiel being preened by the sweet lovebird we rescued after Hurricane Isaac in 2012 (so we don't know how old she is but probably ~ age 13 since she looked like a young adult when found)

January is #AdoptARescuedBirdMonth, and we have plenty of #birds in our care in need of new homes, including Opal and Garnet at Nevins Farm. They’re both #Budgerigars–a kind of parakeet–and are docile, gentle, and can even talk! Opal is a baby, so she needs to go to a home with a #parakeet or existing flock. Visit during open hours (12-4:30p, Tue-Sun) to adopt!

As always, these two are so adorable. Grabbed a quick shot just now of Boobear the 28 year old Cockatiel grooming the head of a blissed-out Nyota the lovebird.

For those who do not know, Nyota is a survivor of 2012's Hurricane Isaac when she was found mixing it up with a Mockingbird in Biloxi's Back Bay-- and came off second best in the battle. She has no idea of her true size...

This morning she put him in the latest nest, wrapped them both up in a paper blanket, and sat alert & in charge while he snoozed. These two prove love is real.

Note-both are rescues, Nyota the lovebird was found after Hurricane Isaac (2012), Boobear the Cockatiel outlived his first owner & is now 27 years old!
