There are actually 2 or 3 very short scenes which show him & the younger sister where the younger sister does or says exactly the same thing as the older sister. You see him seeing her in a new way when these scenes happen.

@whoosh @EllenInEdmonton @KDramaQn I understand. Nevertheless if he truly loved the oldest sister how can he develop feelings for the younger one? You claim they had similar traits, however, if I recall correctly, this isn't highlighted in the #kdrama

Out of respect for the foster parents, who helped him raise his brother, this isn't acceptable. In SK 1997 even less than now.

The grief was probably never healed, but that doesn't justify the disrespect.

@whoosh @EllenInEdmonton @KDramaQn #Reply1997 has been one of the first #kdrama I watched, so my memory isn't fresh, but towards the end SIG shows that he has always thought about his in-laws like his real parents, because they get angry when they find out he smokes.
I assume it's the same for his hyung. Did the hyung even love the older sister? I wonder 🤔

Your own romance has nothing reproachable imho. Even if you were a minor, 2 years difference is nothing.

Too much idol worship, but enjoying this one a lot.

Looking at it through a lens that includes being familiar with & studying grief, I think the older brother is more complex than shown.

Vehicular accidents took his parents & then his fiancée. He had to raise his brother When his fiancée dies, his "family" is also grieving, so he has no support (while being responsible for a teenager at a very young age) (Not shown, just my perception).

Not grieving properly = no closure. When Shi Won does things that remind him of his fiancée, he transfers that unresolved love to the sister.

He doesn't make any physical moves on her, although she is an adult at the time. He honestly believes he loves her. Again through the lens of meeting my husband when he was in college & I was 16. The age gap is bit off putting (our gap is only 1.5 yrs - I was a high school sr. & he was a 1st year college) but I think the situation is just tragic.

@EllenInEdmonton @KDramaQn @whoosh I totally agree on the pedophile vibe of this one. He's been grooming her and the whole thing is even sicker if you think about who his ex-girlfriend is 🤮.
However I did appreciate the constant bickering and fighting, the humour and the main lead characters.

When Yoon Jae FINALLY confesses to Shi Won in the karaoke bar. He just pours out all his feeling, years of loving her - you can see the love, the torment, the anger (that she's with his brother & that she's been so clueless), the regret, the longing - it really was excellent on Seo In Guk's part.
