@dolanor I have ordered a new Pebble watch though (the new one, "Core 2 Duo") and plan on making an SDK for #TinyGo.
It has all the features I want from a watch, such as an e-paper display and the ability to write apps and watchfaces for it. I have some thoughts on what my preferred watchface is, so definitely going to look into that.
I am wondering why #repebble (Core Devices LLC) is a U.S. company.
And this is more an economic than a politics question.
The product is manufactured in Asia (China, according to the blog post). The code is open source.
Wouldn’t it be easier to create an e.g. EU or Chinese subsidiary and handle orders from there?
Right now, an order to EU goes along with
- 25 USD shipping costs
- local tax (should be expected)
- the risk of changing tariffs being passed on to the customer
I got excited about the new #Pebble watches being announced & decided to update my 9-years old Time Gear themed Pebble watchface! It now supports all platforms (including the Round & the upcoming Core Time 2) and the weather updates work again!
I've replaced the battery on my Pebble Time Steel and looking forward to charge it again after I've emptied the battery completely for the first time. It's running since 2025-03-21 = around 10 days and it's still at 4%.
Regarding the drops: I wasn't able to wear it all the time (first I've attached the screen using tape and when glueing it back on, a pin of my wristband failed...)

Wat review betreft, wellicht dat je @gadgetbridge erbij kunt betrekken. Dat is natuurlijk direct gelinkt aan Pebble, maar ook interessant voor gebruikers van andere smartwatches. En nu op het hoofd krabben of ze die persoonlijke en medische data nog wel in een Amerikaanse cloud willen opslaan.
