I am so proud of how far we have come, and of continuing in her footsteps, but we have further yet to go. I am happy to see my colleague and party leader Roderic signing the Social Democrats bill to remove the three day wait period, decriminalise medical professionals, and finally stop women from having to travel outside the state.

Similar to Marriage Equality (#MarRef) and Together for Yes (#RepealThe8th), it's non-party, and aims at uniting parties on the left around shared common goals. Dublin Central is something of a test bed.

Vagina MuseumIn many ways, the campaign to repeal the Eighth Amendment was a product of its time. In 2012, social media was relatively free from suppressive algorithms. The hashtag #RepealThe8th was first used on Twitter by a now-private account on 25th November 2012. It swiftly went viral.
The hashtag remained in use to draw attention to the campaign and the impact of Irish abortion law throughout the campaign until the referendum in 2018. It made the topic visible around the world.
