A misbehaving self-winding spool in a car-charge adapter just wanted to be properly pressed together to make the mechanics work correctly again.

That thing isn't even tamper-proofed.

*sigh*

Maybe I can solder the cables in the other one and that'll work alright again too.

Today’s occupational therapy was repairing the stitching of three pads in two bibtights and a thermosuit using my partner’s sewing machine. Good lunchtime activity. Second effort was best but all are now serviceable.

I'm volunteering at a local repair café at my local library this weekend. If you have the capability (time+energy+skills), I strongly encourage participating! It's a great way to meet neighbors for the first time, give back to your community, and poke at things you've never seen before.

I've been doing PC/laptop repair for... longer than I want to admit. Many pieces of my kit come from @iFixit (https://www.ifixit.com/Tools), and they're often the first place I'll check for weird tools for small electronics. I've also picked up a couple of their Minnow driver kits to keep in my bag and car, just in case.

Freu mich immer noch über meine erfolgreiche Reparatur von letzter Woche. Donnerstag Abend Spülmaschine zerlegt, weil Heizpumpe kalt blieb, Ersatzteil bestellt, Samstag Abend gebrauchtes Ersatzteil eingebaut. Statt ~150 € für ein neues Teil, nur ~ 30 € ausgegeben. Den Zufallstreffer "Ersatzteil-Löwe" kann ich also grad wirklich empfehlen.
Mal schaun, wie lange das hält. Die Spülmaschine ist 14 Jahre alt, bei uns seit 9 Jahren.

The control board in our 20-year old oven died, and, of course, it’s no longer available. I found UpFix.com, and decided to give them a try. They repair boards of all kinds in appliances, autos, exercise equipment, and others. It was a seamless experience the whole way through. I popped it back into the oven today, and .. it works!!
