I’m offering a single session class on fairy tales to raise money for rent relief in my south Minneapolis neighborhood. When ICE occupied my street, they not only kidnapped and murdered, they kept people from their jobs. So even though the abductions have slowed (not stopped), many families face eviction because of lost income.

Fairy Tales and the Subversive Power of Collective Storytelling.

When: April 16, 6-8pm (central) Where: Online through Zoom Cost: Any amount of mutual aid contribution to https://givebutter.com/stan-eric ($20 is suggested. More is appreciated. But if you're unable to contribute, you're still welcome to join the class.) Contact: [email protected] We’re going through some shit right now. And we’re also coming together in powerful ways that many of us have never experienced before--though others have been doing this work for generations. Fairytales grow from a rich and continuing tradition of oral storytelling. Because of this, we can use the fairy tale form to showcase our collective power. And we can channel the practical skills we’ve learned from collective action, mutual aid, and solidarity to write sparkling and magical stories that not only capture the truth of this moment but reflect outward to make change in the greater world. During the session, you can expect magical tales, lively discussion, and a bit of group storytelling. And you’ll leave with exciting new ideas, actionable strategies, and some fun prompts.

My third partner Natalie @fillertrack is our head of moderation and emotional support cow on the slime.global team, and also a frequent rock I rely on to keep me steady over the years. She's a fantastic IT professional, but times have been hard with her car on its last legs and difficulty with housing in Massachusetts. She could use some help getting through the month, and once again, helping her helps me.

#TwinCities Unions Planning ‘Largest US #RentStrike in 100+ Years’ as #ICEOccupation Drives #EvictionCrisis

“Tenants in #Minnesota are in a crisis,” said #Minneapolis City Council Member #AishaChughtai. “The federal invasion forced many of our neighbors to stay home and devastated our #LocalEconomy.”

Stephen Prager, Feb 17, 2026

"Tenant and labor unions in Minneapolis and St. Paul have announced plans to carry out what they said would be the 'largest rent strike in the United States in the last 100 years.'

"Beginning on #March1, if Democratic Minnesota Gov. #TimWalz does not meet their urgent demands for an #EvictionMoratorium and #RentRelief, a coalition of nearly 26,000 workers has pledged to withhold rent, which they said could create a massive economic disruption.

"The plans were announced on Tuesday by the tenants union #TwinCitiesTenants, which is joined by five labor unions: Service Employees International Union (#SEIU) Local 26, SEIU Healthcare Minnesota/Iowa, UNITE HERE Local 17, the Amalgamated Transit Union (#ATU) 1005, and Communication Workers of America (#CWA) 7250.

"They argued that a freeze on rents is desperately needed after 'nearly three months of federal occupation' under President Donald #Trump’s '#OperationMetroSurge,' which sent nearly 3,000 Immigration and Customs Enforcement (#ICE) and other immigration agents to the area, resulting in multiple fatal shootings and a wave of #CivilRights violations, including explicit #RacialProfiling."

Arizona bill promises faster help for renters facing eviction

A bipartisan bill has been introduced in the Arizona House that would help renters who are facing a sudden financial or medical crisis. House Bill 2682 would speed up emergency rental assistance with decisions in as little as five days. Jason Barry has who qualifies, how much you could get, and what happens next at the Capitol. Rent is coming due for many #TwinCities families that have had to make the choice between going to work and possibly never coming home, or staying home and losing wages or even their jobs. If you have a few dollars to throw toward rent relief, especially if you live outside of #minnesota where #ice is less present, I know it would really help some families out: https://chuffed.org/project/167138-emergency-rent-fund-support-workers-in-minnesota #mutualaid #rentRelief
EMERGENCY RENT FUND: Support Workers in Minnesota

Rent is due FEBRUARY 1st. Support our Emergency Rent Fund for Minnesotan workers and families facing eviction due to ICE Raids. We are calling for a rent moratorium, but regardless of if that happens in time, our members need your help covering their bills so that they can stay focused on building the movement! Many households have been unable to work and locked in their homes for nearly two months now, please donate here to CTUL’s Rent Fund.
