Allen was traded to Houston from Atlanta in November after hitting .221 in 135 games for the Braves in 2025. The shortstop, known more for his glove than for his bat, is a career .213 hitter with nine home runs in 1,176 career plate appearances between the Athletics and Braves. With Jeremy Pena and Jose Altuve locked in at shortstop and second base, respectively, Allen will be a bench piece for the Astros in 2026.

Brown has improved his numbers every season since his first full year in the big leagues in 2023 and, if he continues on that trajectory, a Cy Young Award could be in his future. He'll serve as the ace for the Astros in 2026.

He'll be the starting shortstop and should lead off again for the Astros in 2026.
