Claiming people were less likely to get #LongCovid with #Reinfections was not only wrong, but incredibly short-sighted. By the numbers, most people with LC now would have gotten it from reinfection. The conjecture also pacified and beguiled the public.

Not a good idea to catch Corona #Reinfections.
Autoreactive IgG is [most likely &] specifically linked to active #SARSCoV2 infection. The findings reveal a complex network of SARS-CoV-2-induced IgG idiotypes capable of targeting human proteins:

Deciphering the IgG Idiotype Network Through Proteomic Analysis of Potential Targets in SARS-CoV-2-Induced Immune Responses - PubMed

The association between COVID-19 and autoimmune diseases has gained increasing recognition, yet the specific targets of SARS-CoV-2-induced IgG are currently in focus for several studies. This study aims to explore the proteomic targets of these antibodies and their potential role in autoimmunity. We …

Latest daily data #NewZealand: All #SARSCoV2 infections are #reinfections by now.

@jk nodds in agreement...

Personally, I think the constant empowering and normalization of antisocial assholes is rmturning me into a 'sarcastic emerite'...

β€œSo each time you are infected with Covid, you are rolling the dice on long Covid, whether it’s a first infection or second or third or so on?”

Does the risk of getting long Covid increase each time you get reinfected?

"It's very clear in our data that reinfection contributes additional risk of long Covid," says epidemiologist Ziyad Al-Aly.

@batyalee @unchartedworlds there is a single #longcovid program in the UK to support patients, it's a partnership with a private gym chain. It's mostly about progressive exercise, understanding #pacing & fatigue triggers. We also talk about nutrition, sleep etc...That aspect is good, but these #physios are clearly not trained in the basic characteristics of #sarscov2 such as the impact of #reinfections
It was announced today the #UK is bringing forward their Autumn #COVID #vaccine program given the fast emergence of BA.2.86. Can a #doctor tell me why #longcovid patients are not mentioned *anywhere* in the list of vulnerable people, incl. by #JCVI or the Green Book, therefore *not* qualifying for autumn/winter #booster? https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-autumn-2023-vaccination-programme-jcvi-update-7-july-2023/jcvi-statement-on-the-covid-19-vaccination-programme-for-autumn-2023-update-7-july-2023 . We have every reason to create better infection control standards in hospitals. It starts by #MasksInHealthcare and making sure those masks are the kind that stops airborne/aerosols, #n95 or better. This should be our top priority as more people are seeing #reinfections #longcovid and #covidvariants . It doesn't matter if we have the tools if we don't have the brains and brawn to use them.
