When it comes to dreaming and #vision I'd like to thank @elena who dares to #dream, and whom I quoted in my article.

And the many people who work tirelessly to foster #cohesion, increasing the connectedness of our social fabric. Cross-pollinators. In my previous blog post on Grassroots #fediverse I already genuinely thanked whom I called "the pillars grassroots standardization" @evan and @silverpill

This is such important work. In that article I make many points which are unfortunately misunderstood by people as criticism, while it is the opposite. I admire all the fabulous work people are doing and have done over the years to bring #fedi where it is today.

But I argue that to really go next-level, to #ReimagineSocial, and enter the Future of Social networking, we must be able to take more holistic approaches to glue our fragmented online spaces together, and forge a #SocialWeb that is #inclusive to more people, so they can chime in with their 2 cents of #contribution to the whole.

If you want to ponder how to #ReimagineSocial then my blog post on #SX and #SocialCoding may be intriguing. It contains a brainstorm section and encouragement to chime in on that too..

#ThoughtProvoker 🤔

#fediverse is at an inflection point.

Either revival and course correction to the original #ActivityPub protocol power and promise. With the potential to #ReimagineSocial.

Or keep current track with fedi-we-have. Be content with a few great and reasonably popular app platforms. Surely some more to come. But with a messy wire protocol that stifles #innovation and isn't future-proof.

#AskFedi do you dare to dream?

This special thought provoker is based on personal reflection and 8 years of #commoning. Deliberately exposed to the inherent unsustainability of the #FOSS movement. Burning privilege by spending my savings.

Goal: 1st-hand experience to learn the #social dynamics that make a #commons tick.

I invite you to a #brainstorm & #ideation ride. To ponder how #fedi can organically evolve. Become unbeatable by #hypercapitalism.

Grassroots fediverse evolution

Social dynamics in the grassroots fediverse ecosystem and laisséz-faire practices led to divergence from power and promise of the ActivityPub protocol. Grassroots standards and the ActivityPub API initiative can get us back on track.

The #fediverse is a consensus between app #developers on the app #features they want to spend time on to connect with the next app.

Taking care of their own herd, the users that flocked to their platform, they form narrow #interoperability bridges, so a user may graze a bit of the grass in the adjacent meadow that is owned by a fellow dev.

Until now this #app-centric land ownership model works quite well, as a recent #poll with delightful outcome among the lifestock has shown. And for every new land owner we can just build exponential more bridges to connect them all. Right?

@hongminhee @COSCUP

As you know I am proponent to emphasize the social aspects more, to drive healthy evolution of the #SocialWeb.

The app-centric #fediverse is a pure technosphere, where a tech-first approach deals with getting app features to the next app, and the #ActivityPub protocol matures via post-facto 'follow-the-leader' #interoperability. What happens in the sociosphere between people using the tech is de-facto of secondary concern, and apps are tweaked to try to deal with externalities. The resulting social landscape has become one of neighboring app kingdoms with guarded borders separating them. Everyone speaks microblog to each other, albeit with thick accents, hard to understand. The fediverse is social *because* of the people, and despite of the tech, that still severely restrains them.

It would be nice if the track name not just indicated a technology name. E.g. https://coding.social uses:

- Fediverse, a peopleverse
- #ReimagineSocial

#SocialNetworking is literally how we live our lives and experience it with others.

Why then do we turn it into such a weird and warped concept online where at the end of our dev pipelines endless Twitters roll out?
