This weekend sees the 193rd Durham Regatta taking place in NE England and what a great backdrop it enjoys!
Although the regatta dates back to 1834, making it the second oldest regatta in England, the roots of the event are even older.
This popular spectacle has its roots in an event which started in 1815 as an annual procession of boats on the River Wear in Durham to commemorate the Duke of Wellington’s victory at the battle of Waterloo.
The Durham Regatta predates the Henley Royal Regatta by five years and is a much-loved fixture in the city's social calendar.

We are slowly preparing for our first hike with a tent and night in the woods. I’ve got a #turbad tent for three made in #Ukraine, and a #regatta backpack on discount. There is still a lot we don’t have. For example, my daughter doesn’t have any proper clothes and shoes. Also we need sleeping bags and pads.
