Absolutely love to see #Recyclingfabrik being able to expand their line-up of filaments, even if it's still "just" rPLA and rPETG right now. Proves all people wrong who still believe industrial filament recycling to not be possible.

Hope they'll eventually figure out rABS and rASA as well, and/or perhaps a regional expansion to outside of Europe. that would be just fantastic.

Just heard of #Creality's filament recycling system. Interesting for sure, though I'm sceptical it will be as good as #Recyclingfabrik (for those in the EU) given their bigger machines and years of expertise. I also am very sceptical about the company since they went IPO, wouldn't be remotely surprised to see them enshittificating. Though machines like these absolutely are the right way, throwing away homogenous material just because of the wrong shape feels awfully wasteful.

@michal I collect PLA and PETG separated by type (but not color) and send it to the #recyclingfabrik https://www.recyclingfabrik.com. But that’s not an option if you’re not from Germany.
ABS goes in the trash.

I saw some (prominent) people posting in #3DPrinting questioning or even denying the possibility of properly recycling material.

For those in the EU I really recommend trying #Recyclingfabrik at least once, they know their stuff. Occasionally slightly more prone to moisture and obviously not high speed material, but still prints absolutely great with consistent colours.

Picture and video from a print with 0.4mm layer height and a 0.6mm nozzle, works equally well with normal settings though.

Feels better to use every time. <3

Still, printing only biodegradable filament (pure PHA or special TPE) is very much is the best. So recycled PLA and PETG already is the "second class" option. Worst option of course is cheap new filament produced on the other side of the planet (which unfortunately is usually the cheapest for capitalism reasons…).

Unfortunately pure PHA is still at 30€ / 750g, meanwhile 1kg of "bad" PLA is just ~10€. 🙁

I think I have finally figured out #Recyclingfabrik PETG #3dPrinting filament.

The secret ingredient seems to be to enable the fan already for the first layer. Today I accidentally switched it on while printing, and the quality of the first layer immediately started to improve.

@H4zy Depending on where you live you may collect them sorted by material and send them to a recycling company. In Germany / Europe there's #Recyclingfabrik who'll take PLA and PETG and give you points for sending stuff in you can use to get cheaper recycled rPLA and rPETG in return.

Unfortunately you can't send in everything, some materials or blends (like filaments with wood or carbon fiber in them) can't be recycled yet.

Alternatively use PHA, that stuff is compostable.

Gerade wieder ein wenig Geld in recyceltes #Filament investiert. 😉
