"Megadeth" (their final album or #WhiteAlbum or whatever) by #Megadeth.

This was hyped all along the previous year as their final album. But it's actually a pretty good and solid one. Great riffing from the start as you might expect. Then some old school type of slower tunes like "Another Bad Day" which is almost like a Motörhead tune.

"The ReconstruKction of Light" by #KingCrimson.

A re-recording/remix of their 2000 album, apparently at least #PatMastelotto re-doing his drums with acoustic gear. In the end I don't hear much difference to the original album. Also I love the original album as I saw the tour in Copenhagen, and also later in Helsinki Finlandia house (which Fripp commented being an "acoustic shithole").

"Songs, Ayres & Dances" by #JohnDowland.

Picked up this 10 CD set after learning where #PhilipKDick got the title
for "Flow My Tears...". So far I've listed the first two CDs and the
music is sublime, just perfect for the easter holidays. Despite the cover depicting him as "guitar hero" the lute playing is actually in the background and very subdued.

"University Of Minnesota 1971" by #GratefulDead. This is an unofficial release (or at least "semi-official"). It's a tape from FM broadcast released by some obscure UK record label. I usually avoid buying these (and rather seek tapes/FLACs instead), but now only realized this at home. I'm a hasty addict at a record store.

But the music is good and superb! This is one of my favourite periods of the band with both Pigpen and Keith on board. So jazzy and relaxed.

"My Generation" by #TheWho. A kick-ass album from 1965. Apparently hastily put together after couple of their singles got successful, and band themselves didn't much appreciate it later on. But there's some wild and harsh sonic stuff here, and the #mono Polydor CD issue sounds just brilliant! Just a few covers, and many #PeteTownshend early songs. And #KeithMoon rocks. The picture shows backside of the CD sleeve with some young lads looking at something.

#Elder is one of my absolute favorite bands, and Lore is one of my favorite albums of theirs…it’s raw and heavy. Not as raw and heavy as their first, but more raw and heavy than their most recent…but all of their stuff is choice. It’s also the first album of theirs I was exposed to, so there may be some nostalgia involved.

I had the luxury of seeing them live a few years ago with my best friend. I’m at an age where I wore “audiophile earplugs” which honestly performed excellently, I will wear them again. I hope to see this band again. A new album is coming out in just a few months!

Wife and I won first place in pub trivia tonight (thus winning a sweet-ass Guinness scarf) so I’m celebrating perhaps a bit more than I should. Not looking forward to work tomorrow morning, but then again am I ever? 😆

Spinning the 2018 remix of #Animals, my favorite #PinkFloyd album. The mix is really good, even compared to a modern non-remix repress and the original pressing (both of which I’ve sourced and listened to, albeit my first pressing is a bit rough). The bass and drums are a bit more present, rendering the entire recording a bit more full. The dogs barking in the background of Pigs on the Wing get our little dudes barking every time they’re in the room.

This box set came with the Blu-Ray too, and the 5.1 mix is choice if you have a 5.1 setup in your living room. Music mixed for surround is a transcendent experience when done well.

As with a lot of great rock music, the subject is as topical as ever. #CharadeYouAre

@TheVinylApe wasn’t lying…this is an amazing record. On my second listen already.

Didn’t place in pub trivia, so will be consoling myself with some #HerbieHancock and a wee glass of Black Label.

Just got this in from the #BlueNote spring sale….

I love all the Herbie albums I have, this is no exception. And it was recorded by Rudy Van Gelder so it already has a leg up.

Ava is unsure how she feels about the new #JohnnyBlueSkies / #SturgillSimpson record, but I’ve started side 2 and I’m a fan. It’s a bit genre-bending which is probably why I’m immediately transfixed.
