For complicated museum reasons (and just because I was curious) I was looking in the archive for an exhibition held in 1995. If you were press you could apparently get a 35mm negative as a handout.
If you had questions you could contact "The Information Department".
Good times.

I work with archival video and imagery but on the IT side, maintaining some reformatting applications. A staff member was having issues and they gave me a link to an image that they had issue with. I downloaded it fine (obv. an issue at their end, but what?) anyway, I looked at the image and a massive double take. I've been there! I know that place. From a long time ago. So I look at the meta data. Hannibals nightclub, 1990. Exactly when it was my haunt! So weird to be dropped into my past like that. I spoke to the staff member and they are doing some gathering of images for an exhibition, and also getting... reels off 3 more nightclubs that I knew well, and was also reminiscing! Apparently they are about the same age as me :)

New Earliest Emoji Sets From 1988 & 1990 Uncovered

In 2019 Emojipedia detailed a historic revelation: Docomo’s i-mode emojis from 20 years prior were not the first to exist. Now, in 2024, further digital excavations have led to the recreation of emoji designs that predate both Softbank’s 1997 emoji set and the ❤-enabled Pocket Bell pagers of 1995.

I listen to music in my car, often from what's on my phone.

Hummingbird by Dengue Fever was the last song that played on my phone when I picked up my kids from school before the covid lockdown began in 2020.

🧵 The following is SUCH an important thread. Too many young ppl don't know the history of rape laws, & it rly is vital information. A #MustRead. https://mstdn.social/@Teri_Kanefield@law-and-politics.online/110304873678151098 #rape #law #RecentHistory

A reader said this about Trump in response to the E. Jean Carroll case: "How the Access Hollywood tape failed to derail him, where he himself admits to assaulting women, continues to baffle me." Spoiler: They don't think what Trump did should qualify as a crime. This makes perfect sense when you understand the history of rape laws and the meaning of MAGA. It's been about a year since I had a rant about the history of rape laws, so it's time again, don't you think? 1/

When I was in high school, my biochemist dad looked at my textbooks and said "you know, this was college level material when I went through school because it had only recently been discovered" and the other day my 5 year old was excited to recognize the double helix charm on my bag because he's seen it so often in video games and books. It's so ubiquitous as a symbol now. Yay for DNA!
