Just got a real estate agent's request to "confirm my details", as someone I know who is looking for a new place to rent has put me forward as a reference.

The request is an email that looks EXACTLY like a scam. It is HTML-only, and has an orange "confirm your details" button that links into Azure with a long tracking code etc.

The absolute kicker though is the text below the button: "[name] has given permission for this reference and signed consent is shown after clicking the link".

After!

The very small saving grace is that they do offer to call you instead if you reply to their email with a phone number.
