I've been hella slumping with my reading, but I'm okay with it. With our big move steadily getting closer and closer, I simply have other things on my mind, and reading is less of a priority. I have a hard time focusing on long stories atm, and can't really read for longer periods at a time, so decided to go with a shorter story this time. Love Shirley Jackson, and so far loving this as well! She's just so good at writing seemingly very normal scenes that simultaneously have this eerie, upsetting, somewhat off-putting atmosphere.

I was slumping a bit with my reading last week, so I decided to reread some favorites and comfort reads. I've been (re)listening to Nicholas Sainsbury Smith's Helldivers series, which is pulpy, over the top, post nuclear apocalypse, monster fun. Also been rereading Oryx and Crake and taking my sweet time with it. Been a while since I read it, but I still love it so much. I'm definitely the kind of person who binge reads for a couple of weeks and then needs a bit of a break, so even though I love this story, it's one of my favorite books of all time, it's been a week and I'm not even halfway through. Been steadily making my way through a pile of WIPs for the last week though, which really needed to get done as well. Frogged a lot, finished even more, hoping to get through it all before the big move!

Anyway, how's your reading going? Slumping? Going steady? Discovered some gems already this year?
