I have a reading lamp that I like a lot — good light directed directly at the book, with none of the light in my eyes.

I finally found the name of that type: it's a swing-arm pharmacy floor lamp.

I find I'm reading more books now.

@joannarifkin Two things that have increased my use of the library: 1) Installing Library Extension in my browser. When I go to Amazon to look for a book, this tells me whether the library has any copies and whether any are available. I can put a hold on a copy immediately. 2) A good swinging-arm reading lamp stands beside my chair. Having good light for the book makes reading much easier and more pleasant.
