Today’s gig was on a farm in Norfolk, not my normal quartet, but another I sometimes dep for. Given the various possible stressors there, it was remarkably low-anxiety.
But I am having one of those single-point headaches above my right eye now, so we’ll see what that develops into.
Playing others’ arrangements makes me realise how lucky I am in my regular quartet: there were examples today of: wrong harmonies; broken rules of notation; melody obscured in a bunch of needless and awkward passagework; wrongly labelled repeats and DS al Codas; perverse enharmonic spellings; and some that plain didn’t make sense to any of us.
Sure, no one within hearing complained, but that’s not the point…

I tried to run my own server. Even bought a dedicated server to put it on. Could I? NO! It was mind numbingly hard. With many false leads, turns and list after list of instructions going nowhere...

I don't want a 'service provider' at cost. AND there is no way I am using two factor phone based 'authorisation' as required by Signal which I use for video calls...

Chatters be crying in my damn twitch chat because I cannot read chat frequently. These people have to understand that my current setup is not a streaming setup with two monitors.
Chatters, I say this, you are NOT entitled to make people read your messages. Stop acting like that and just grow the fuck up.
As a matter of fact, why do I keep streaming to these people to begin with? Streaming is a habit! It's like a caffeine addiction that takes over an entire being.
I've grown up with computers since before my teen years even, I got my first Internet account in 1993, I've watched decades of corporate rot and political corruption of U.S. high-tech culture, and I must say: there's a white-hot core of rage inside me over how computing and geek culture got taken over by all the fuckin' NARCS. Tech and programming got coopted by all the snottiest, fashiest, bootlickiest dweebs, ice-cold neo-fascist minions like John Carmack and Roko Mijic, people who see no higher purpose for technology than serving the whims of the police state and figuring out new ways to slaughter people at a safe distance. I remember in the 1990s when you started to see crap like the NSA openly headhunting for ambitious programmers, and the U.S. Army trying to make war seem like slaying a dragon in a videogame, and gawd I remember laughing and my friends laughing but the joke was on us! Geeks responded to that shite. The money was too good, the power too intoxicating, and heaven help us all, there really and truly exist geeks who can make themselves feel like slaughtering [insert slurs here] with some drones is heroically equivalent to being a Knight of the Round Table.

I swear dealing with complaints to big companies goes something like this:
I call them. No one answers, the recording tells to send them an e-mail or fill some form.
No one ever replies to the e-mail or form.
I give them a 1 star review. I'm almost instantly contacted by a customer service rep, whose mandate is to get me take that review down.
