Auckland from Rangitoto. Waitangi Day holiday in 2016 found me up the Rangitoto volcano in the Hauraki Gulf just outside of Auckland, New Zealand. On this day... in 2016, after a close to 26 hour flight from the UK, I found myself, at the summit of Rangitoto, the extinct volcano just outside Auckland in NZ.
I had my ham radio with me, set it up and 'activated' it for Summits On The Air'!
It was probably a bad idea to do this on the Waitangi Day public holiday!
(Better weather than of recent days though)
