Karim ha un anno. Il 22 marzo, secondo il referto medico depositato dall’Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor, l’esercito israeliano lo ha prelevato nel campo profughi di Al-Maghazi, Gaza centrale, e lo ha sottoposto a ustioni da sigaretta, punture e una ferita da chiodo. Ramy Abdu, presidente del Monitor, ha dichiarato che il bambino è stato torturato «nel tentativo di fare pressione sul padre ed estorcergli una confessione». Dopo dieci ore, è stato restituito alla famiglia tramite la Croce Rossa in stato di shock. Il padre, Osama Abu Nassar, resta detenuto.

Il documento classifica la tortura nei territori occupati come “a structural feature of the ongoing Israeli genocide and broader settler-colonial apartheid”. Copre Gaza, Cisgiordania e Gerusalemme Est a partire dal 7 ottobre 2023. Registra l’uso sistematico del corpo dei detenuti come strumento di coercizione, punizione collettiva e sfollamento forzato.
La parola confessione lavora a due livelli. Un corpo viene usato per costringere un altro a firmare. La stessa documentazione viene usata per negare ciò che descrive. Israele ha respinto il rapporto. Nel 2025, l’amministrazione Trump aveva già inserito Albanese nella lista OFAC del Tesoro, il registro riservato a trafficanti e terroristi.
“Torture and Genocide” richiama l’articolo 1 della Convenzione contro la tortura. La sanzione ad Albanese era arrivata sei giorni dopo la pubblicazione del rapporto sull’economia di quello che la Corte internazionale di giustizia definisce genocidio. La sequenza ha una logica: chi registra i fatti viene colpito prima che vengano smentiti.

In 2025, the Trump administration had already placed Albanese on the OFAC Treasury list, the register reserved for traffickers and terrorists.

“Torture and Genocide” invokes Article 1 of the Convention Against Torture. The sanction against Albanese arrived six days after the publication of the report on the economy of what the International Court of Justice defines as genocide. The sequence has a logic: those who record the facts are struck before they are refuted.
