I saw a post yesterday with a drought map and the KC area had some color. There is no way we're in any sort of drought. We were over average rainfall in Jan and Feb. Nearly over our March average just 6 days in. It's been low and slow w/ storms in between for nearly week. Deep, soaking rain. Not all at once.
I don't think the account that posted it was intentionally being deceptive but it was another reminder to be deeply skeptic of everything.
We have not had 43mm in one day before.
And I don't think I've seen the creek quite this high before.
We'll be telling our great grandkids about this event for many millenia to come 😉.
The rain has been falling on our very soggy valley.
We have had 40 or 50mm in the last few days.
As a result, our creek is rising and the neighbours have gifted us a tree trunk.
I will need to do some work before the sun comes up so we can get out.

Update. We ended up with 2 trees on the crossing. Which I then had to remove by hand 'cause no equipment and it was -1 this morning 🥶.

It’s going to rain from now until May, there’s no point pretending otherwise. So I admitted defeat and put the mudguards back on the two bikes that were still in their summer outfits. I also swapped the QR skewers on G’s bike for some hex ones from Halo Wheels. They’re sold on the security benefits but I’ve found they’ve eliminated an annoying intermittent disc rub too.
Heading up to the brewpub in #Totterdown tonight? We have #LaurasPizza back with us this weekend for some hand stretched pizza goodness. Two new flavours as well this time, Roasted Mushroom & Onion and Carbonara 😋
