I don't know enough about AI to decide if the Victorian rail mania analogy holds or not.

What's worrying is that I suspect that many of those talking up AI are not that much better equipped than I am to make an informed assessment .

That's like saying the British railway mania left behind a transport backbone that has since served the public good unlike the Dutch tulip bubble, yet it was the former that bankrupted and destroyed the lives of many more people when the bubble inevitably burst

Investing in the railroads of Great Britain in the 19th century question was the #GetRichQuick scheme of the time. Was it similar to the tulip bubble in the Netherlands of the 17th century? Railroads are tangible, functional and a technological advancement, very different from tulips. This period is called the #RailwayMania. Just because we know history does not mean we can avoid repeating it. #CognitiveBias #CriticalThinking
