Back in the '90s and '00s I spent many, many hours playing Doom (1 & 2) and Quake (1) - even (or especially) more than a decade after the games came out.

So when I in the early 2010s learned about a new game from id Software, Rage, I was excited. The game was barely passable - and definitely no Doom nor Quake.

Fast forward to me having spent hundreds of hours playing Rage 2 and Doom Eternal in 2025. And my verdict: *Rage 2* is THE best id game!

Just finished Rage 2. Recommended.

The gunplay can be fun, even indulgent—but most everything else lacks spirit. The setting is trite, the story is stupid, and the characters are unmemorable.

In my opinion, #Rage2 , a #bethesda #id #avalanche game was amazing, but given context, I paid an #EpicGames #free for it. The action gaming kept me involved until the end. But the story was very, very limited. I spent around 40 hours with the main + extras along the way. There are many more side quests that I could have taken. Overall - it is a great game that they will not likely invest more into. I experienced several hard crashes as well as glitched paths. I retried several - with different techniques, and could get past them. (Often taking a different autoroute). I would purchase this game on a large discount sale, but not come close to paying retail.
