Cette plante parasite peut produire une fleur gigantesque, parfois proche du mètre de diamètre, sans feuilles visibles ni tige classique. Elle ne fleurit que quelques jours… et attire les insectes avec une odeur de charogne. Le romantisme botanique a ses limites.
